Welsh Heritage Minister Huw Lewis announced £580,000 of funding for heritage projects in Swansea, the Welsh Government's fourth regeneration area. These include Swansea Castle, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and the Redevelopment of the Hafod-Morfa copperworks site. The copperworks project will receive £150,000.

Swansea is steeped in history, from its ancient castle to the more recent industrial past. Preserving this heritage is a major factor in regenerating the city.

It is hoped that £150,000 towards the redevelopment of the copperworks site will create a "modern and vibrant riverside area."
